A relative newcomer (I have only been drawing seriously for about 4 years).. I have been keen on the pencil... graphite and colored, for their portability, less-messyness, and ability to produce detail.
My favorite subjects thus far have been: European cityscapes (namely Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, London, and Venice), portraits of famous people (philosophers, rock/reggae stars).
In the past I have used old/antique postcards (that I used to buy by the dozen), as a source of most of my black and white cityscapes... and made copies of Rembrandts, Renoirs, and Chinese Art..
Lately, I have begun to use more original material in my work, using my own photographs (from my new digital camera, and old photos I took while in Amsterdam, etc.) as the source for my newest pieces. |
